Houston regained control with a Nick Chubb 4-yard rushing touchdown and a second Fairbairn field goal, putting the hosts up 13-6 at halftime. Tyler Warren’s 12-yard touchdown catch from Jones tied the game again in the third quarter. Nico Collins’ 7-yard run early in the fourth proved decisive, with Houston’s defense holding off a late Colts rally.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 22 of 35 passes for 276 yards to lead the Texans’ offense, while running back Woody Marks added 64 rushing yards, the team’s leading ground effort. Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor was held to 85 rushing yards, and Jones finished 14 of 27 for 201 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Texans’ defense preserved the narrow advantage with a critical stop in the final minutes after the Colts cut the lead with a Michael Badgley 42-yard field goal. Houston’s ability to limit Indianapolis in the fourth quarter underscored a strong finish to the regular season.
The divisional matchup marked the latest chapter in an AFC South rivalry that has seen competitive encounters between the two franchises; Sunday’s result adds to a recent trend of close games between them.
